Austin Graduates!

Last week we went to Laramie, Wyoming for Austins graduation from Wyotech. It really wasn't a bad town, other than it was sooooooo cold and windy! I'm talking the wind blew constantly and it was 17 degrees in the day time! I don't know how Austin stood it this long!

Austin didn't want to do the whole walking across the stage thing. He just wanted them to mail his diploma to him. When they read his name "Austin K. Brown, Class leader and Perfect attendance!" It brought tears to my eyes. We were so proud of him! Nine months with no tardies and no absences! How did the boy who hardly ever went to High School do this? He also got awesome grades all the way through. I guess it shows how much he has grown up, and what he can accomplish when he sets his mind to do something!

We are so proud of you Austin!!!!!

Dog rescued from frozen lake Print E-mail
Joe Pyrah - Daily Herald

It turns out that, on occasion, man is dog's best friend.

A contingent of county and city employees banded together
on Wednesday to pull Griffey, a black lab, from the frigid waters of Utah Lake.

Around 3 p.m., dispatchers received a call that a dog had fallen through the ice. County Sgt. Tom Hodgson and others responded to the south end of the lake. Hodgson donned a dry suit and began walking across the fragile ice toward the sound of barking.

He repeatedly broke through the ice and often, the dog, which he couldn't yet see, would stop barking.

As he came out of a reedy portion, an Australian shepherd ran up to him. Licking his fingers, the shepherd turned and ran away barking, directly toward the dog struggling at the edge of an 8-foot hole in the ice.

Issuing a few barks to its friend, the shepherd then ran back to Hodgson, "almost as if it was trying to lead me to the other dog."

Edging up to the hole, Hodgson saw the black lab just keeping its face and nose above the water. Claw marks around the perimeter showed the dog had been struggling for a long time to get out of the hole.

Unable to reach the dog without fully breaking through the ice himself, the sergeant used a "catch pole" from a Santaquin animal control officer to loop the dog's head and drag it out of the water.

The slog back across the ice was initially difficult, until more rescuers brought along a Stokes litter, a wire basket of sorts, to use as a sled.

The lab and the shepherd were taken to the South County Animal Shelter, where they got warm beds for the night.

Hodgson stopped by for a visit and got a licked face for his troubles. The dog's owner, who lives near the lake, collected both dogs on Thursday. Shelter representatives declined to give the owner's name.

Remember Joe?

Lori Grant sent me this picture of Joe. It was on his birthday, probably his last one. It brought back so many great memories. Joe was the sweetest man on earth and a very treasured employee at KC's One Stop. Here are a few things I remember and loved about him.
  1. Riding his bike over the bell at the drive-up window.
  2. Don making him "scream like a girl"
  3. Reading him the jokes on his Popsicle stick. Then he would say "pretty funny huh?"
  4. He was so dependable, always there to do the garbage.
  5. Watching him spray off the parking lot with that sweet smile on his face.
  6. He loved all the employees at KC's especially "Trixie"
  7. He loved to sneak up on you and scare you, then he would say "scared ya huh?"
  8. His jewelry phase.
  9. He lived to be in the Salem Days Pageant every year.
  10. He always told us we were his favorite gas station!
Love you Joe!

*Gateway*

Today we went to the gateway kids museum. It was great! My mom, Grandma, and Aunt Carla went with us. My Grandma cracks me up, she wanted to do and see everything. She is 97! They had a good time too. There is so much to do there for kids. Again, there is a lot of pictures, but I couldn't pick just a couple and I don't know how to do those collage things! (and yes that is grandma Fox in Kennedy's stroller but she doesn't weigh very much!)

The fountain was about a block down from the museum and Granny Fox was beat from playing, so we put her in Kennedy's stroller so she could see the fountain. She loved it just as much as the kids.

Addie Loves to sing!

Trey loved being a checker, it was his favorite until he saw this........

I'm pretty sure he wants to be a Life Flight Pilot!

Or a little Dick Norse.

Fishing!

This week Karly and Jeff went to the Dominican Republic for a vacation. So I get to have the kids. It has been a lot of fun, they have been so good. Saturday Kevin took Trey and Addie fishing at the lake, they caught 3 fish. They were so excited and thought it was great to cook them and eat them! Sunday we went to Payson Lakes. Trey is getting very good at his casting. He went through a dozen worms and a bottle of Power bait. He didn't catch any fish, but he can cast pretty far! I'm posting a lot of pictures so Karly and Jeff can see them, they aren't very good I took them with my phone.

Happy Birthday Kevin and Karly!

Today is Kevin and Karly's Birthday! If I was really on the ball I would be able to find some more pictures of them on their birthdays. (maybe next year) The top picture Karly wasn't born for a few more hours. The bottom one is Karly's 4th and Kevin's 31st! They have always enjoyed having their birthday parties together. Happy Birthday you two!

A couple weeks ago Ryan rolled his Banshee and broke his collar bone, this is him in the ER.
4 hours later and a sling, he is doing fine!

I say, the people in my family better be more careful!!!!
Love you guys!

Ouch!!! Not for viewers with a weak stomach!

So everyone tells me I should do a blog, I tell them that nothing very exciting happens to me to put in a blog. But I do have a lot of time on my hands out here in the middle of nowhere.
So I will start out by making everyone sick with a picture of my brothers leg.
My brothers were at the sand dunes, Lees foot slipped off the foot peg and the tire ran over his leg. 2 hours and 250+ stitches he is doing fine! Sick huh!!!
